We changed our Old Street billboard on Friday to focus on hiring engineers.

Obviously this comes with a bit of discussion. What do we think would get the attention of an engineer who should work at incident? What would make them stop and think “you know, that sounds like my sort of thing”

We’ve done this exercise a lot, but finding a billboard suitable slogan is a new version of this game. So we went back to what we think are the three pillars of why an engineer would want to join us:

  1. You love building amazing products that you can be proud of
  2. You want to build closely with your customers, which in most cases are your engineering peers
  3. You want to challenge yourself technically: either building critical on-call software that has to be reliable, pushing the boundaries of AI, or continually improving how we as a team build software

There’s more, of course. And you can’t put all of this on a billboard, so you have to pick and choose.

But if you think it’s cool to build software that’s loved by engineering teams worldwide, from Netflix to Etsy to Hashicorp to Vercel, then please let us know.

We’d love to have you on our team!
