I’m joining a panel for “Leading Without Managing: Beyond Senior” on Thursday 24th July (next week) hosted by incident.io and Limitless In Tech.

Many of the engineers I know who moved into Staff/Principal roles found the transition extremely painful. What the move means is rarely explained, and your peer-group of people who can offer advice is often smaller than it ever has been, making it hard to find support.

I’m looking forward to sharing my experience of the role, both at a large-ish company like GoCardless and then joining incident as a founding engineer, where the definition for “technical leadership” is totally different again.
